Blast ’20 COVID

Introduction

The following measures outline our measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the non competitive cycle sportive to be held on Sunday 20thSept. ’20.

1.0 Before you arrive at Hose village hall on Sun 20thSept.

  • All riders are requested to NOT attend Belvoir Blast if they display/ have displayed any recent COVID symptoms/ are within isolation guidelines (foreign travel/ from a lockdown area/ in a household with anyone displaying symptoms). In this case riders will be offered a no quibble full ‘2 Wheels’ refund.The same is true for all non riders involved in the event. Please email hello@2wheelsandpieceofcake.co.ukif you can not attend.
  • Please read the rider information email which will be emailed to you/ available on 2wheelsandapieceofcake.co.ukon 17thSept.

 

2.0 Throughout the day

  • We all need to take care of each other.
    • REGULAR WASHING/SANITISING Hand sanitisers will be available on the entrance to all village halls for all riders  and event helpers to use. 
    • FACE COVERING – All riders will need a face covering (covering mouth and nose) for registration and need to carry one for the whole event.
    • A face covering is required for entry to ALL village halls enroute and in the event you/ your bike needs mechanical/ medical assistance or you need a lift in a support vehicle.
    • If riders turn up without one, they will be given the opportunity to buy one using CONTACTLESS or delayed payment. Should they choose not to, they will be asked to leave, unless there is a medical reason why they can not.
    • All event helpers will wear a face covering or a face shield inside village halls.
    • Medical and mechanical personnel will also wear face coverings in village halls and when attending any riders.
    • SPACE – give space to each other inside as well as outside. There is plenty of space around the village hall. The start area is to have no more than 24 riders.
    • Each village hall has clear one way systems for registration/ toilets and refreshments. There are arrows on the floor marking a 2m distance and indicate the MAX. number of people in the space – 1 rider per arrow.

 

3.0 Hose village hall

  • Car Parking – There is a huge amount of space for car parking on the back field and ample space to socially distance the cars on arrival and departure. There is a separate car entry point to cyclists.
  • The hall has a weekly deep clean. No one will have been in the hall apart from us within 72 hours. We will hand sanitise before entering.
  • There will be no self service complimentary drinks for this event. Drinks will be available for sale from 7:30- 17:30. Contactless payment only.
  • All main access doors will be left open., to aid ventilation and avoid unnecessary contact points.

 

3.1 Toilet facilities at Hose

  • Please follow signs – there will be a separate 1 way system for the toilets and 2 queues for the ladies and the gents. In the foyer area there will be one way markers. 1 in, 1 out. Main doors and toilet doors are to be kept open to aid ventilation throughout. All contact points: toilet handles/locks/ flushers and taps will be wiped regularly.

 

4.0 Registration

  • Registration and start times will be staggered over approx. 3 hours, with 3 waves per distance. Riders will be emailed the information about staggered registration and start times based on their DISTANCE and approx.   This has been devised to avoid too many people at the start; in each village hall enroute and at the finish. Riders to arrive with who they want to ride with in groups of no more than 6.
  • There will be a separate (different to previous years) entrance to the hall for registration- on the east side of the hall and will be signposted from the car park which is south of the hall on the large field. There will be one way system for registration inside the hall and a strict limit on the number of people inside the hall at any one time (1 in, 1 out). Markers on the floor will show the direction of travel and mark out 2metre gaps, which indicates how many people are allowed in the hall.
  • Self registration will take part in the main hall. Riders are invited to bring their own pens. We will have a supply of sanitised pens. Once used they are to be dropped in the used box. These will we sanitised. The hall will be exited via the north door, following arrows on the floor. Exiting the hall everyone will be directed anticlockwise, so as not to double back, walking past the queue to get in.
  • Registration queue will be from the car park/ field outside the hall and should be socially distanced. Riders not to stand close to other riders unless they are from the same household.

 

5.0 The Grand Depart!

  • This will be staggered over 3 hours. Within each wave, riders will be set off in groups of 6 approx. 3 minutes apart. Each of the 4 hay bales marks a group of up to 6 riders.  No more than 24 riders are allowed in the vicinity of the start line at any one time.
  • Rider verbal briefing will be kept to a minimum.

 

6.0 Riding the sportive

  • No more than 6 riders to ride together in a group.
  • Overtaking to be done safely giving plenty of distance as riders pass.

6.1 Mechanical help

  • In the case where help is needed, our designated bike mechanic will wear a mask and socially distance from riders. Riders are expected to do the same. Should they need a lift in a vehicle, masks will be worn by all.

6.2 First aid assisstance

  • Provided by the award winning ‘Atlantis EMS’ , based in Nottingham. There will be 2 first aiders, 1 paramedic and 2 vehicles in attendance. A full risk assessment has been submitted.

7.0 Woolsthorpe Village Hall (60 and 100milers)

  • Start times have been staggered to best plan and spread out arrivals at the village hall.
  • All touch points to be cleaned with antibac. Wipes prior to the event. No access to hall by anyone within 72 hours prior to the event.
  • Everyone to sanitise their hands on entry.
  • Riders and event team only are allowed inside. Sorry no members of family this time.
  • Everyone to wear a face covering/ shield.
  • LEFT to toilets.
  • RIGHT to refreshments. There will be a 1 way system in operation marked by tape on the floor. This will indicate direction of travel and the number of people allowed to queue. 1 arrow for each person – no more.
  • PLEASE NO TOUCHING of food or drinks. Event helpers will serve all cakes using designated cake servers onto paper plates. Hot and cold drinks will also be served to minimise multiple contact on surfaces.
  • Water bottle refilling – tbc
  • All crockery is single use.
  • All riders to eat and drink outside, socially distanced in groups of no more than 6.
  • Riders to leave dirty cups and plates in bins provided outside.
  • Doors to be secured open to aid ventilation.
  • Handles and main touch points to be wiped regularly.

8.0 Skillington Village Hall (all riders)

  • Start times have been staggered to best plan and spread out arrivals at the village hall.
  • All touch points to be cleaned with antibac. Wipes prior to the event. No access to hall by anyone with in 72 hours prior to the event.
  • Everyone to sanitise their hands on entry.
  • Riders and event team only are allowed inside. Sorry no members of family this time.
  • Everyone to wear a face covering/ shield.
  • LEFT to toilets. One way system in operation. This will be marked by tape on the floor in the shape of arrows. There will be a 1 way system in operation marked by tape on the floor. This will indicate direction of travel and the number of people allowed to queue. 1 arrow for each person – no more.  Exit out the side of the building. 
  • RIGHT to refreshments. There will be a 1 way system in operation marked by tape on the floor. This will indicate direction of travel and the number of people allowed to queue. 1 arrow for each person – no more.
  • PLEASE NO TOUCHING of food or drinks. Event helpers will serve all cakes using designated cake servers onto paper plates. Hot and cold drinks will also be served to minimise multiple contact on surfaces.

9.0 Finish

  • Start times have been staggered to also stagger finish times. Riders may have to queue SOCIALLY DISTANCED to be checked back in and be handed their goodybag, containing medal and lunch voucher from designated event volunteers.
  • Light lunch will be available from 12:00-18:30
  • No complimentary massage will be offered for this event.
  • Toilets will be available – same one way and restricted numbers as before.
  • There should be no need to go into Hose village hall. The doors will be closed.

10.0 Wet weather

  • Yes it happens! Unfortunately due to the current pandemic, we can’t allow people to eat or shelter inside any of the village halls. It’s for everyone’s safety. Dodge the rain drops and enjoy the ride.

11.0 Track and Trace

  • We will retain all personal details for 21 days after the event.
  • Everyone at the event (riders/ event teams) has a duty of care to notify us by email at hello@2wheelsandapieceofcake.co.ukif they have any COVID symptoms and or have a positive test result from a test taken within 14 days of the event.
