Please Read Before the Event
We are delighted that you have decided to join us for Belvoir Blast. We hope to deliver you a memorable and enjoyable event from start to finish. This pack should contain all the information that you need to make your day go as smoothly as possible.
Please note that due to a recent fire at Hose Village Hall, we will not be able to use this building. We will be based in the Bowls Clubhouse on the same site.

Directions by Car
There is plenty of parking at the venue.
Please follow signs to the Car Park which will be through the main entrance near the village hall.
From the South (Leicester): From A46 take turning for A606 to Melton Mowbray. In Nether Broughton turn left, taking signs for Long Clawson. In Long Clawson, turn right, then left (through the village centre) towards Hose.
From the North (Newark): From A46 take turning for A52 to Grantham. After 2 miles, turn right on Tithby Lane to Langar. Follow the lane through Langar, and into Harby. Just outside Harby turn right, following signs to Hose. The village hall will be on the left.
From the East (Grantham): Take the A52 towards Nottingham. At Bingham, take the left hand turn – Tithby Lane to Langar. Follow the lane through Langar, and into Harby. Just outside Harby turn right, following signs to Hose. You will find the village hall on the left.
What to bring
We recommend that you wear appropriate, comfortable clothing and footwear, and wear or carry a waterproof top layer, and sunglasses. Helmets are compulsory for this event. We suggest that you bring a water bottle, form of ID in case of an incident, charged mobile phone, and basic tool kit (allen keys, tyre irons, spare inner tube and pump.)
If you have any concerns about your bike, our mechanic, Mark, will be available at the venue to carry out basic adjustments. Please try to ensure that your bike is in good working order before arriving at the event.
Registration will open from 7.30 a.m. Please remove your cleated shoes before making your way to the registration desk inside the village hall to sign on. You will be asked to confirm your details and will be given your wristband printed with your rider number and telephone numbers for medical and mechanical assistance. Route maps and a list of villages on each route will be available.
For a pre-ride caffeine hit, Cafe Allez will be with us bright and early– selling their premium barista coffees from Van Henri, their beautifully restored 1972 Citroen HY van. (www.cafeallez.uk). Please help your self to complimentary tea and instant coffee inside the hall.
Jo and Mel’s Village Kitchen will also be selling breakfast rolls pre-ride as well as your complimentary post-ride meal. They will also be selling a range of snacks and cold drinks. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available, if you pre requested them. Family and friends will be able to purchase drinks and snacks if they want to hang around and support you!
The 100 mile riders will be set off at 8.00 a.m. The 60 mile riders will set off at 9.00 a.m. The 28 mile riders will set off at 9.30a.m. Please make sure that you are ready to set off by these times. We’ll aim to set riders off in small groups to avoid congestion. If you are riding with friends, just make sure you arrive at the start together.
We will give a short safety briefing to each group of riders at the start line. Please remember that the ride is non-competitive, so just relax and enjoy it!

Please note that our medium 60 mile route has been amended since our 2017 event. The above link shows the new 2018 route.
Our mobile mechanic, Mark, from Cycle Craft, will be at the venue before the start and will then move out onto the course for the duration of the event. Mark will have various items of kit and equipment for sale on the morning of the event to deal with any last minute panics! He will also carry spare inner tubes and tyres on the route so if you do not have your own spares, please bring enough cash to cover the cost of these.
If you need mechanical support during the ride, please use the telephone number provided to you on your wristband.
Our broom-wagon will be roaming the course to help out with any unforeseen problems! If your bike (or your legs fail) beyond repair, we can give you a lift back to the venue at Hose.
Medical and Emergency Assistance
We recommend that you carry a charged mobile phone for emergency use.
Qualified first aiders/paramedics from LIVES will be in attendance on the day of the event. For minor incidents or accidents please call the medical support number provided on your wristband. If you are able to let the first aid team know which route you are riding, and the name of the last village that you cycled through, they will be able to act more quickly to find you.
If in doubt, and in case of more serious medical emergency please call 999 without delay.
Piece of Cake Feed Stations
If you have advised us of a dietary requirement, please make yourself known at the feed stations – we will have tried to cater for you!
Toilets will be available at the venue and at each Piece of Cake Feed Station.
Pre-ride tea and coffee will be available at the event venue, the Bowls Club at Hose Village Hall
Woolsthorpe Village Hall (mile 15/mile 20) will be the first feed station on each of our three routes. You will be able to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and piece of cake (or two) as well as topping up your water bottles and snacks. Take your time to enjoy the break!
At mile 33, the 60 mile route will split off towards the second feed station at Waltham Village Hall (mile 42). Again, this will be fully stocked with food and cups of tea, so no need to rush off!
The 100 mile riders will head South to a feed station at Wing Village Hall (mile 51) and then back via Waltham Village Hall (mile 81). We plan to close the feed station at Wing by 2.30p.m. Please ensure that you pace yourself to arrive in good time.
Our feed stations are located in well maintained village halls. To avoid damage to the floors, please remove your cleated shoes before you enter.
Please be considerate when disposing of your litter!
The rides will be on open roads, so you will be sharing the route with other road users, including horse riders. The Highway Code applies as usual, so please follow it, and try to be considerate to other road users. Please ride no more than two abreast and always ride with control and take care of yourself, particularly if the roads are wet.
All routes follow relatively quiet country lanes with low levels of traffic, but there are points along the routes where you will cross, or turn right across a slightly busier road. Please use extra caution at these junctions.
The route will be signed in orange, yellow and pink signs showing our logo. These will be brought to your attention before you set off. All riders will follow the same route for the first 8 miles before the longer routes split off. We have had problems in the past with our signs being removed, so areas where this happened will be marked with green spray arrows on the tarmac in advance of the turn.
If you see a “Be Safe!” sign, please sit up and take care. These signs will be placed at locations where we have identified a change in gradient/road surface/bend/crossing/junction or other risk.
Don’t keep going! Track back to the last sign that you saw and get back on course. If in doubt, give Emma a call using the number on your wristband.
No helmet, no ride! Sorry!
Please make sure that you check in with the Marshall at the finish line and collect your meal ticket and goody bag. If you decide to abandon the event for whatever reason, or if you change route mid-event, please let the event organisers know so that we don’t go out searching for you!
There’s no need to rush off after your ride. Enjoy Jo and Mel’s Kitchen complimentary lunch, and refreshments inside the hall (hot drinks are £1 for supporters/non riders). Our custom “2Wheels” cycle jerseys will be available for you to order (unisex and ladies specific). Why not have a complimentary Sports Massage from our friend Graham Spencer?
